Since sport watches are supposed to provide maximum durability, then these features such as long-life battery, shock-resistant, and water-proof are common to find in any brands. But for those who fond to diving activities, the durability limit has to be extended.
Important Features for Diver Watch
Dive watches hold a very important role for most divers, because it’s not being used merely to help you telling the time, but also to ensure the safety of scuba divers. They also look cool and are popular with men and ladies. Here are the features to look out for:
- Track dive time, to maintain alert on air-supply.
- Provide you with time decompression stage, usefull during the process of ascending to the surface (you know the water presure can cause problems when mishandled).
- Scuba divers don’t dive to 200 meters but 200 meters water resistance is generally considered to be the minimum for a diving watch.
Underwater Lightning
Watch with illumination will surely helps the diver reading time in the poor-lighted underwater.
Nowadays, sport watches already have LED or other lighting mechanism embedded on it. This additional feature, usually consume the battery’s power. If there is another solution, then solar powered or hand-motion powered watches are the best types.
Luminous paint on analog watches is popular. They need to be “charged” with light to glow in the dark. Better paints glow for hours, others only an hour or two.
Some analog watches use vials of Tritium that glow without needing to be charged with light. They can be brighter than luminous paint but will slowly fade over the years.
